As can be seen from the accompanying photograph, the 2023 edition of Nordic Day took place under a bright blue Algarve sky. On the golf course, not only blue, but also shades of yellow, and white dominated the beautiful landscape, as traditional Nordic colours were proudly worn. Players also enjoyed a choice of national food and drinks from the Starter Table, to guarantee that opening drives were appropriately fuelled with Nordic spirit.
No fewer than 72 players (36 pairs) competed for various prizes. In addition to the first three tournament placings, Gents' and Ladies' awards were also presented to the closest to the pin in two shots on the 2nd hole. On the 10th tee, following consumption of yet more food and liquid refreshments, ladies and gents were challenged to land their drive nearest to the line in the middle of the fairway.
Following some fantastic golf, around 60 members and guests then celebrated together at Restaurante Ponte Romana, Silves, suitably decorated in blue, white and yellow. The restaurant's fantastic provision included serving the deliciously tasty, traditional dish of Pannbiff, which was gleefully savoured by all in attendance.
After lunch, excitement mounted as the prize-giving ceremony commenced, and the worthy winners were announced as follows:
1st Place - Pia and Arne Berglund (45 points)
2nd Place - Liv and Jens Namtvedt (44 points after count-back)
3rd Place - Arja and Ralf Edvardsson (44 points)
Nearest the pin in two on the 2nd green:
Arja Edvardson and Richard Whiteley
Closest to the line on the 10th fairway:
Brigitte Illig and Ralf Edvardsson
